DHRAFA STUDIO:
Dhrafa Studio is an initiative under Shaurya Foundation, in collaboration with BuildAur, Auroville; which aims at establishing a creative link between rural and urban communities through its research & study programs by students & professionals in various disciplines.
The aims & objectives of Dhrafa Studio are:
- To bring together a diverse group of students and professionals together at Dhrafa to live & work together in various disciplines.
- To work together with the local youth for self-reliance & create opportunities for economic & social development, especially for women & youth.
- To create projects that focus on local solutions for youth, women, elderly & children in the fields of education & economic activities.
- To study, research & document the various aspects of life in Dhrafa & surrounding areas of Saurashtra in the fields of Architecture, building techniques, Agricultural practices, social, cultural, ecological & economical systems.
- To design & propose various creative solutions for the local community in various areas that emerge from its relation to local context & collaborative practices.
- To create an environment of creative community work & rejuvenate interest of urban communities in the challenges faced by rural communities in modern India, thus encouraging them to be part of the solution.
- To highlight the creative potential & richness of the life in a rural community through creative media.
- To positively influence the policies at local level by our involvement in various ways thus bridging the urban & rural divide in India.
- To learn & enrich ourselves by in depth studies & undertaking of research programs in local areas through various projects.
- To create a centre of excellence where national and international experts from all fields such as design, social, economic, ecological & management fields can contribute towards the community development.
- To create a model for sustenance through holistic development at village level & rejuvenate the life in the surrounding communities.
